Choose wisely...

Hello readers,

School has been going better than I expected, I am happy I am able to pay attention in classes and I have great friends. Have you had a proper, genuine talk with one of your favourite teachers? Well I have just a day or two back. I shared my feelings with her and I told her a few things about myself. Her answer was that I don't have to try and find who I am, the way I react in situations is what makes up my personality and that's exactly who I am. I've been thinking of it lately and she's right. I was having inner conflicts cause I wasn't happy with myself I was trying too hard "finding myself" rather than accepting myself. Yes I've always tried living up to peoples expectations and that isn't exactly fun or easy to handle because once you change even a bit, they go against you. They say you've changed. That's not even the worst part of it though, cause to be honest the worst part would be knowing that its true. Then it depends on you to change if you want to. However, if you don't then you tell them that this is the new you and you like it. "Don't change so that people like you. Be yourself and the right people will love the real you." This I feel is an apt quote for what I'm trying to convey. You could change everything about you just because someone else wants you to, but why do you have to is the real question?

With time I now know that some people like you and some don't, in fact some might just hate you. Does not matter. Not everyone can like you, that's just some fantasy that you're willing comes true. It wont and in fact the harder you try, the worse it gets. So take a break choose the people who love YOU listen to their opinions, their feedback.

A few things that you should probably keep in mind:

  • if you want others to accept who you are, you have to accept yourself first. Listen to yourself, your inner voice, it will tell you who you really are.
  • Not everyone will ever be happy with you, until and unless you're happy with yourself you're good to go.
  • choose the people in your life wisely because in the end they are the ones who have to be there for you, so make sure they are the kind who can accept you with the flaws that you have but also see through them for the strengths that you hold. They will automatically love you for who you are and who you choose to be.
  • Take some alone time to reflect on yourself because after all no one knows you better than you.
So have you ever been in a situation like this, where you've had inner conflicts and a hard time accepting yourself? Let me know in the comment section below if this helped!
